We want to announce the great news of Millie's Adoption. Saturday at Adoption Day she met her new family at Petsmart and today we had the home visit. She has a new sister who looks just like her. Congratulations Millie!
MESSAGE FROM JUANA: With very sad, bad news we had to put Annie to sleep Saturday. Her cancer was bad and she was in pain. She wouldn't eat or take any cookies, it was very sad and I knew it was time. She was already taking the max of the max of pain medicine. She didn't fight it and went very peaceful to sleep. I couldn't report it yesterday at all, it was just to much for me to handle. I'm better today so I wanted to let you know personally.
R.I.P. Our sweet Annie girl!!
She was 14 years plus and never adopted.
BILL ANNOUNCES: Straydog Radio Show covering the events of Saturday, August 13, 2016. Bill and Juana here a few days later with the Saturday report. Juana, what happened on Saturday?
JUANA: It was a very good day, Bill. Tyler had been repairing and reconstructing Friendly and Polly’s entire shelter. He finished it up on Saturday and he just had to paint it. On other radio shows, we will talk about how he tore it down and started rebuilding it. We had to move Polly into a kennel office crate, while Tyler was working on it. She just barks and barks and she tries to get Tyler. I don’t know if she doesn’t like the noise or why she does that. Friendly was just fine; he doesn’t care. Tyler had to construct this kennel differently. Polly eats flooring. Tyler had to put concrete flooring and different things. Hopefully, Polly won’t eat it. She’s like a little beaver and she eats everything. At Lowe’s, they have manufactured concrete, that you can use instead of plywood and that’s what Tyler used. Hopefully, Polly can’t eat concrete.
Banjo and Marie live in the shelter, where blind Cesar and Marie used to live. Cesar is now an H2 dog and he lives inside. Blondie and Tobi live in the kennel next door to Banjo and Marie. They dig into each other’s kennels and all four of them play. They don’t fight. They get along very well. About two months ago, we found a good home for Speck and her former kennelmate Diesel has been very lonely. He has become even more fearful and timid. When Speck was with him, he gradually came around and started coming to us for a cookie. We've been thinking about trying him with someone else. Marie is such a sweet girl and she gets along with every dog she meets. I decided to try Marie with Diesel and they got along very well. Then we put Banjo with Blondie and Tobi in the huge kennel, which is where Cesar used to be and it was also Buddy and Betsy’s kennel. The three of them will share that big kennel and we still have an empty kennel. We will be moving dogs around again soon but, so far, Banjo, Blondie and Tobi are doing very well together. Shari was the walker of the day. She had been training Catherine. Catherine was hired on Tuesday and she trained with Maci for a few days. Then Catherine walked the dogs on Friday by herself. I wanted Shari to train Catherine on Saturday. Shari has been here for so long and I wanted her to give Catherine the history of our dogs and give her some advice too. Maci trained her very well, but I wanted her to have some advice from Shari too. We will get pictures of our new employee, Catherine, soon.
Sherri had Beto on a leash and she was brushing him in Pat Arnold Park.
Shelby had Ranger and Beauty in the Shirley Olsen Beemer Park. Ranger still runs and he is so very pretty. Ranger saw me and ran to the gate.
You can see that Beauty is getting so old and he looks so little. Black dogs, like Beauty, show their age a lot more than other dogs. Their beards look so white.
There’s Wayne caregiving Collin and Kayla and giving them cookies.
Wayne told me that Collin still has a rash. It’s not getting worse and it doesn’t seem to be itchy. We put some Animax on it.
We attended an Adoption Day event on Saturday and David took some different dogs. It was the first time that our little Alli went to Adoption Day. She is a Chihuahua, who got along with our little wild Chihuahua bunch. There’s still one Chihuahua from that bunch, who we can’t touch. There is another little black one, who only lets two of us touch her. Lee-boy and Al are still outside and they Alli go to the park. Alli has been inside, since she had a scratch on her eye. She has been staying indoors with the H1 Gang. She’s very friendly and she’s a small lap dog. There’s David holding Alli. She was ready to go to Adoption Day. I was holding Millie. Millie is so rambunctious and she was moving everywhere, so we didn’t get a very good picture.
Mr. Bernie was going to Adoption Day to see David Bonski. David is so crazy for Bernie. David has been a volunteer, a contributor and a friend of Straydog for many, many years and David loves Bernie!
When Lacie came to Straydog last Thursday, she trimmed Angel’s face. We couldn’t see her eyes and Lacie did a great job and now you can see Angel’s beautiful face.
Angel is such a gorgeous girl and she went to Adoption Day on Saturday. We took her to the Rag Tag Adoption Event last Saturday and she didn’t get much attention. I think it was because no one could see her face with all of that big, fluffy hair. She’s a little Shih Tzu and she’s such a pretty girl.
The dogs were in their crates and ready to go to Adoption Day with David. Alli and Millie were ready to go.
Angel and Bernie were in crates too.
I have great news! I couldn’t be sad, even if I wanted to be. I know I will miss these sweet kittens, because I bottle fed them as babies. But I really want these wonderful kitties to have an opportunity to get adopted. They deserve good homes.
Maci and George Jr. took a boy kitty and a girl kitty from that litter. All three of the remaining boy kitties were going to Peggy at Frisco Humane Society. Erin has been in contact with her and she’s so nice to take our kitties. They’ve had all of their shots and were wormed and vetted. But our vet said that they were still too young to be spayed. We put them in a crate and Sherri and David carried them to the van.
There was interest in Millie at Adoption Day. I am going to spoil the surprise. Millie has a home visit scheduled for today, which isTuesday. We received the application on Sunday via email and we reviewed it and today is the day. I am so happy for Millie.
Wayne was caregiving Ozzie and Ariel.
Our new employee Catherine was taking Friendly and Polly back to their kennel.
We will talk about this little boy in our reports. A neighbor brought him to us. She was looking for his owner. We named him Elvis. He is so cute and he loves people and he’s just so sweet. He’s still in quarantine. He had hookworms. He was kissing Wayne, who was carrying him back to H1.
Wayne was caregiving Oreo.
Unfortunately, we have 10 dogs with ringworm. We are doctoring every single dog every day. We are giving them a pill. We dipped them on Thursday and we will have pictures of that. There’s Sherri doctoring the dogs with ringworm.
There’s Marie with Diesel. Diesel isn’t afraid of her. He’s just afraid of people. They are getting along very well.
BILL: We’ll be back again tomorrow with another report from Straydog.
