BILL ANNOUNCES: Straydog Radio Show covering the events of Thursday, December 15, 2016. Bill and Juana here and it’s a couple of weeks later. Juana, what happened on that Thursday?

JUANA: It was another very cold day and, as we always do, we followed our normal routine. This picture of Wayne is an example of how caring our crew is. It’s not just a job. Our crew truly cares for our dogs.
Picture
Wayne didn’t realize that we were taking his photo. Wayne is filling up a water bucket with one hand and, with the other hand, he’s petting Little Big Boy. You might not see it, but I see it every day. Wayne is supposed to be working in kennels, but he always tries to give the dogs some attention. We are so grateful that we have such caring people working for Straydog.
Maci was the walker in Pat Arnold Park. Beto was running.
Picture
We will talk about Beto later, but he’s limping. He has already been to the vet. He has very bad hip dysplasia. He needs FHO surgery. That’s where they operate on a dog’s femur.
Maci was taking Ebony and Nelson to the park. They are just so cute.
Picture
The dogs know their routine and they dance around, while they wait for their turn. They can’t wait until their neighbors come back from the park. If you mess up and skip them, they will let you know about it. They know who goes to the park next.
There’s George Jr. filling up a water bucket.
Picture
He’s not petting a dog, but he usually is. Wup is probably in his doghouse with Wendy. It was a cold morning and the dogs don’t like the cold. They would rather be inside.
Jacob was the walker in the Shirley Olsen Beemer Park. He was taking Thunder and Chip to the park.
Picture
After we lost Thunder’s sister Storm, we were afraid that Thunder would have a very hard time. Luckily, we found a great kennelmate and friend for him. Chip has helped Thunder grieve and they are doing great together. Chip is four years old and he’s such a gentle boy. Thunder is about ten or eleven years old and Chip seems to have rejuvenated him. Chip plays with him and loves him so much. Thunder enjoys being young again.
Ricky appears to be giving C-Stat a dirty look. Ricky is a little jealous, even though they love each other so much.
Picture

This is the kennel, where Ricky and C-Stat were. It was the old family kennel. Wayne is trying to remove the bricks that were buried in that kennel. He found a big cinder block.
Picture
These are beautiful pictures of Wolfie and Jenny. Wolfie looks so old and he’s so beautiful.
Picture

Maci was giving them some treats and some loving. They were so happy.
Picture
We had a visit from Rose. She is a contributor, who fell in love with Elizabeth the very first time she saw her. Rose waited months for her, because Elizabeth had heartworms. Then, when she brought Elizabeth home, Elizabeth didn’t get along with her dogs. Rose was so upset, because she loved Elizabeth. She tried for a few months and she tried to separate them. It’s amazing how much she still loves Elizabeth, but she had to bring her back to Straydog. Then she wanted to try again and, a few weeks later, she had to bring her back. It broke Rose’s heart. Elizabeth is a Chow and sometimes adoptions don’t work, but we tried.
Picture
Rose drove all of the way from Dallas to visit Elizabeth. She helped us with the mailing on Monday and she asked if she could visit Elizabeth. I told her that Elizabeth had an abscess, but she had already been to the vet and she was fine. She and Elizabeth were so happy to see each other. They are so bonded. Elizabeth is doing well and she will have a good home at Straydog and Rose can come and see her at any time. Rose was so happy to see her baby girl and see that she was doing well.
We had our regular Thursday volunteer, Ms. Polly. Bless her heart, she’s slowing down, but she comes to Straydog every Thursday. She’s still volunteering and driving about 20 miles each way to see us every week. She got to visit several of our dogs. She’s getting very close to feral Jimmy.
Picture
He really loves the treats she makes for our dogs. He’s starting to get very close to her, because he loves the treats she brings him. Someday, he will probably get enough courage to go to her and get a treat.
Ms. Polly met the new babies and she was laughing. She was holding my favorite, who is a male butterball.
Picture
Polly is always so happy and her laugh is so heartwarming. She reminds me of my grandmother.
There’s Polly with another baby. I think the pups have some Husky in them. One of them has a blue eye. He’s a beautiful baby.
Picture
There’s Maci with another two pups.
Picture
There’s Caragan with another one.
Picture
We have five of them. I think they are so adorably cute. They are going to be big dogs, but their momma isn’t very big.
There’s Maci sitting with Rosita and Big Boy in the park.
Picture
It makes me sad to see that Big Boy is slowing down and I miss my Purtis so terribly. I was telling Wayne that I feel Purtis is still here in spirit with Rosita and Big Boy and I keep waiting for him to come back. Wayne said that, when Jacob had Rosita and Big Boy in the park yesterday, he could have sworn he saw Purtis. It was Rosita running with her curly tail bobbing. The way she turned, she looked like Purtis. I told him that Purtis will always be with us. [Volunteer typist’s note: Juana gets upset here and tries unsuccessfully to regain control. That’s why we all love Straydog so very much. God bless Juana and all of the wonderful people, who care for and love the dogs at Straydog!]
The Chihuahuas are still out there.
Picture
There’s a beautiful picture of Newly on top of his doghouse.
Picture
There’s Jacob walking with Ethel in Beemer Park.
Picture
We still can’t get Fred to come to the park, but his kennelmate Ethel is enjoying it and she’s so beautiful.
