I finally was able to caregive our newest girl Abby for the first time today. She’s the sweetest little lady ever, jumped right in my lap like she had never met a stranger. I can't even begin to comprehend how someone could dump her.
My dog of the day is Cali. I fell in love with her as soon as she got here. She has the prettiest eyes. Cali came with her sister Marcy who was pregnant when we got them. Marcy and her 11 puppies got adopted pretty quick, but Cali is still waiting on her forever home. I'm not sure why she has not found a loving family yet. Maybe it is because she doesn't play well with other dogs. Why should this stop her from finding happiness though? Other than that, Cali loves all people all the time. She loves the pool and sometimes if she is in the mood she will even play fetch. I believe she would make a great family dog. She doesn't cause any problems here at the shelter.
Today was a fun filled day full of weed eating. From kennel to kennel, from Park 1 to Park 2, it's a must do weekly event to keep the rodent and snake population at a minimum, not to mention our crew goes above and beyond to make sure we maintain a safe and clean environment for our doggies. Kobe's only been at Straydog for a few weeks now, not knowing whether or not he was ok with me weed eating his kennel, I tried to make the situation the least stressful for him as possible by first playing ball with him (one of his favorite things to do). After a few minutes of ball playing I fired up the weed eater with no issues or complaints from him. He's really adapted well to his new surroundings and continues to impress us on a daily basis.
This is Mario. He’s a big old doggie that loves cookies and cuddles. He may look scary at first but he is one of the sweetest dogs in the shelter. The best of the good boys.
Today was really the first time I’ve spent any time in the park with Mr. Happy. I thought he was a laid back lazy dog who didn’t care about much, but it turns out he’s quite the character and loves to play and be loved on. I’m so glad I finally got to see his true personality.
